Toll in Europe is collected in different ways depending on the country and the specific road or bridge, including toll booths where drivers pay directly at entrances and exits, electronic toll collection using an on-board unit (OBU) that lets vehicles pass without stopping, vignettes (a paper, electronic, or SMS sticker required for certain vehicles), and GNSS-based systems that track and charge vehicles via satellite without any physical tollbooths.
This depends on the country and the specific road or bridge, but almost all vehicles using toll roads or bridges in Europe are subject to tolls, including cars, trucks, motorcycles, and buses. For fleets, tolls are usually calculated by vehicle size and weight, with different rates applying to commercial vehicles than to passenger cars.
Regulations vary by country, region, and vehicle type. Check the country-specific toll information relevant to your fleet's routes.
Fleets can choose between EETS-based solutions, which allow toll payments across multiple countries with a single on-board device, and national solutions such as vignettes, which apply only within one country.
Pre-pay: customer pays a deposit to the Eurowag account first, used to cover expenses.
Post-pay: customer uses the toll service and receives an invoice; requires approval from the Eurowag Credit Department.
