Schnellecke Transport Slovakia: pioneering LNG, electric truck testing, and HVO100 deployment with Eurowag’s fuel network

As the Slovak branch of global logistics provider Schnellecke, this company has served as a testing ground for sustainable innovation. From pioneering LNG vehicles to electric truck testing with Porsche and Volkswagen, and now deploying HVO100 with measurable performance improvements, it demonstrates that practical sustainability yields environmental and operational benefits. Eurowag’s fuel and toll services support the alternative fuel strategy.

Market context

Schnellecke Logistics operates in thirteen countries, specializing in automotive logistics. The Slovak branch (est. 2008) operates from Lozorno near Volkswagen. ~60% of volume serves automotive, with diversification into wood-processing, metallurgical, glass, paper, textile, defense, and FMCG following post-crisis strategy.

Operational challenge

Subsidy programs for eco-friendly vehicles were discontinued. Fleet Manager Gabriel Molnár explains that customers push rates as low as possible, making LNG — tens of thousands more expensive per truck — economically challenging without support. The company needed an alternative fuel solution requiring no upfront investment, no special training, and compatible performance.

Eurowag’s role

Schnellecke vehicles refuel HVO at Eurowag stations. Molnár: “Previously, we used other suppliers. But Eurowag pleasantly surprised us. Its acceptance network is comparable to major competitors.” He values the high-level cooperation, absence of deposit requirements, and self-service stations with video surveillance. Eurowag’s toll services cover European operations.

Measurable impact

Testing HVO100, fuel consumption dropped from 27 to 23 liters/100km, with the driver reporting higher performance and better driving characteristics. No upfront vehicle investment required — all manufacturers have adapted since 2008. The 12-vehicle fleet is renewed every 48 months; none older than two years. A control unit monitoring system alerts to unnecessary braking and detects driving deviations.

Strategic outlook

The journey from LNG pioneer to electric truck testing partner (with Porsche/VW) to HVO100 deployer illustrates pragmatic evolution. Several customers already require carbon footprint reports. Molnár acknowledges sustainability could go further — but economic viability, infrastructure gaps, and lagging legislation remain primary constraints.
