The report’s second edition maps commercial road transport (CRT) across seven European markets, spotlighting standout operators in the Market Leader, Tech Trailblazer, and Sustainability Star categories while analysing the key trends reshaping the sector in Poland, Spain, Romania, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Portugal, and Slovakia.

Prague 19.11.2025 – Eurowag, a leading CRT technology company, has published the second edition of its Market Report, examining the state and evolution of CRT across the core European markets. Transforming Transportation in 2026 delivers a current perspective on how the industry is responding to mounting pressures around sustainability, efficiency and digitalisation.
This year’s report reveals that technologies such as artificial intelligence, integrated fleet management systems and administrative automation are no longer competitive advantages but the foundation of daily operations. Hauliers investing in AI, route optimisation or digital reporting are able to make faster decisions and deliver measurable savings on fuel and operating costs.
“We’re seeing a clear shift from experimentation to practical deployment. Operators today need solutions that genuinely work, meaning they cut admin, connect data and enable rapid responses to change. That’s precisely why Eurowag is focused on bringing all our services together into a unified whole,”
says Francesco Nazzarri, Chief Commercial Officer at Eurowag.
The report confirms the trend of building fleets powered by diverse energy sources, including alternatives such as HVO, bioLNG and electricity. HVO (hydrotreated vegetable oil) is becoming a go-to solution for firms looking to reduce emissions swiftly without making significant investments in their fleets. BioLNG trucks are mature and the refuelling infrastructure is broadly available. Electric vehicles are increasingly becoming the technology of choice in a regional context and as sustainability requirements by shippers keep growing.
ESG reporting and demands for measurable lower carbon footprints are shifting from a bonus to a requirement. Firms across markets confirm that auditable emissions data, are increasingly appearing as tender prerequisites. Operators without decarbonised fleets backed with solid data are starting to lose access to premium contracts.
One of this year’s headline themes is the systematic reduction of empty kilometres. Companies now track not just fuel consumption or emissions, but what proportion of distance covered is actually productive. Empty running below 20% is becoming a standard target, much like fuel monitoring today. The combination of telematics and artificial intelligence allows dramatic improvement in this metric without fresh capital outlay. It’s one of the fastest routes to cutting both costs and emissions simultaneously.
Telematics data has evolved from simple vehicle tracking to a tool for individual driver development. With the Driver's coaching tool from Eurowag, firms can assess up to ten driving parameters, from cruise control use and braking patterns to tyre pressure. Monthly performance scores then feed into targeted coaching. When a driver struggles with a particular metric, they receive tailored training in that specific area. This approach combines technological precision with personal coaching, delivering measurable improvements in fuel economy and reduced wear.
Across all seven markets, the report highlights operators in three categories who are setting the pace for the industry.
“This report exists to show that European haulage isn’t just about numbers, but about real businesses tackling shared challenges every day. We’re grateful to the operators who shared their experiences with us. Their stories can inspire others and demonstrate that the path to cleaner, more efficient operations is achievable,“
says Francesco Nazzarri, Eurowag.
