What is eco-driving?

Eco-driving means ecological driving and is a responsible approach to operating a vehicle that focuses on minimizing environmental impact while also reducing fuel consumption and operating costs. It is based on techniques and strategies that help drivers drive more efficiently and sustainably.

Eco-driving is becoming an essential part of modern driving and brings comprehensive benefits for both drivers and transport companies.

The main principles of eco-driving include:

  • Avoiding sudden braking and acceleration, as this unnecessarily increases fuel consumption and emissions.
  • Observing the speed limit and driving at the lowest possible engine RPM that is compatible with the current speed. Higher speeds result in a dramatic increase in fuel consumption.
  • Turning off the engine during extended stops (e.g. at traffic lights or in traffic jams), which saves fuel and reduces emissions.
  • Shifting gears smoothly and early to higher gears to keep engine RPM low.
  • Using engine braking when slowing down before intersections or traffic lights, which saves brake pads and recovers energy.

Eco-driving with a truck is also a crucial aspect of environmental care and economical driving, offering benefits to both drivers and transport operators.
