Environmental criteria are becoming critical in bidding processes for multinationals and large retailers. Romanian carriers in Western European markets face increasing demands for emissions data. Infrastructure gaps for alternative fuels in Central and Eastern Europe create challenges without partner support.
Specializing in temperature-controlled transport for meat, dairy, and perishables across Spain, Germany, Italy, France, the Netherlands, and Belgium, Altec estimates ~25% empty mileage — targeted for reduction below 20% by 2026. A dedicated ESG coordinator was appointed in 2023.
CEO Alexandru Olteanu: “Along all our processes, especially in our decarbonization endeavour, we see Eurowag as a strategic partner.” The collaboration includes carbon footprint monitoring, route optimization, and advanced telematics for precise fuel tracking, driver behavior monitoring, and automated ESG reporting. Monthly bonuses are awarded for safe, efficient driving based on telematics data.
Revenue rose 41.7% in 2024 with net profit more than doubling versus 2023. HVO testing shows comparable performance to diesel. The first Sustainability Report is scheduled for 2025. A stronger sustainability profile has helped secure more favorable fleet acquisition financing.
Olteanu advises: “Gradual steps such as digitalization, staff education, and partnerships with technology providers like Eurowag can make the transition both practical and impactful.” Electric vehicle integration is being evaluated for 2026–2027.
